MORE than 25 goods vehicles were stopped for a range of offences and presented a “real danger” on the roads of East Dorset.
Officers from the Dorset Police Traffic Unit were joined by Driver & Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) officers in the East Dorset area on Wednesday, July 20, where attentions were focused on large and small goods vehicles.
After eight hours on the road, traffic officers had issued the following:
- 15 prohibitions from use to vehicles over their maximum weights – the largest being 32.2 per cent over
- Eight reports for vehicles with insecure loads
- Two reports for vehicles with defective tyres
- One report for a driver using a mobile phone while driving - a large flatbed van round a roundabout
A Dorset Traffic Cops spokesperson said: “These are all police outcomes with DVSA officers additionally finding a similar number and variety of offences.
“Each of these vehicles presents a real danger in its use on the road with either their key components under additional pressure and their loads likely to move.”
