A DOG in Poole and its owner was the victim of a dog attack, after a Staffordshire bull terrier knocked a man into a ditch and bit his hand, police say.

On Saturday June 4 a man was walking his labradoodle in the area of Knighton Heath, near to Wheelers Lane, and was resting under a tree when he was approached by another dog, believed to be a dark grey Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

The other dog started attacking the Labradoodle and the victim, aged in his 60s, went to intervene. The other dog knocked him into a ditch and bit his hands.

A man came over and pulled the dog away but left the scene without giving his details.

The man is described as white with a heavy tan, aged in his late 50s and of large build with a shaved head.

The incident happened at around 3.30pm and police are appealing for anybody with information to come forward.

Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin, of Dorset Police, said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries into this incident and we are keen to speak to the owner of the dog involved so we can take his account.

“I would urge anyone with information to please come forward.”
