HAVING been a supporter of AFC Bournemouth for over 65 years I have never watched or shown any interest in the ladies football either at club or international level.
That has now changed thanks to the Euro 2022 competition taking place where the English Lionesses are making good progress and without wishing to tempt fate could go all the way – lets hope so.
I have been amazed at the quality of the football these ladies play. It really surprised me whilst watching on television the England games and also one or two of the other international sides.
What really impressed me across the board was the on field behaviour of the players.
I have seen virtually no pressuring the referee when decisions have been given that may be questionable.
They accept the ruling and get on with the game.
There is no theatrical diving in attempting to secure a free kick or penalty, which has become an all too regular part of the men’s game.
The Premier League and other top divisions could learn a lot from this Euro tournament and the manner in which the players are conducting themselves on the field of play.
