Dorset Fire and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue say the road could be closed for 'some considerable time'.

The fire service says it was called to the A35 just past Monkey’s Jump shortly before 2.30pm as a lorry was on fire.

Currently at the scene are two crews from Dorchester as well as Bere Regis, Portland, Bridport, Beaminster and Weymouth, together with a small 4x4 appliance from Maiden Newton and a water carrier from Yeovil.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Firefighters are working hard to prevent the fire spreading into the adjacent woodland.

"The road is closed and will be for considerable time."
