EMERGENCY services were mobilised when a person fractured their ankle after slipping off rocks along the Dorset coast.

Kimmeridge Coastguard and St Albans Coastguard responded to the incident on Kimmeridge Bay at 12.37 yesterday afternoon.

The coastguard, along with a crew from Southwestern Ambulance, arrived at the scene shortly afterwards and made the decision that a lifeboat would be required.

Swanage RNLI launched an all-weather lifeboat as well as an inshore lifeboat in order to provide casualty care. The crews were able to stretcher carry the casualty to inshore lifeboat and into the ambulance.

The person, who sustained a badly fractured ankle, was then taken to hospital and all teams were stood down.

A spokesperson for Kimmeridge Coastguard wished the individual a "speedy recovery".
