More than 50 firefighters from across Dorset and the New Forest battled the fire throughout the night.

An investigation will take place on Friday into the cause.

Live updates: Aftermath as fire tears through historic church in Mudeford

This morning, a post on All Saints Church Facebook page said: "Sadly due to a major fire All Saints is closed for the foreseeable future.

"We will be organising worship in some form or another. Please pray for us as we find with God’s help our way forward."

Members of the community have already vowed to help rebuild the beloved historic building.

People watched in tears last night as fire crews worked tirelessly to save as much of the buildings as possible.

Police were called to close the road, and some people were evacuated from their homes nearby at the height of the incident.
