A MAN from Poole was arrested for an alleged assault, leaving the victim with a cut above his left eye. 

The incident happened in Bridport and was reported to Dorset Police at around 8.45pm on Sunday, July 3. 

It was alleged that a man had assaulted an off-duty member of staff at The Pursuit of Hoppiness in West Street. 

Officers attended and a 52-year-old man from Poole was arrested on suspicion of assault. He has been released under investigation while enquiries continue. 

Police Constable Mike Rumsby, of Dorset Police, said: “We believe that the bar was fairly busy at the time and there may be further witnesses to the incident who have not yet spoken with police. 

“I would urge them to please come forward to help our investigation.”
