A MAN has avoided going behind bars for burgling a bar and a hair salon in Highcliffe.

Daniel Brian Dewhurst, aged 27, was alleged to have trespassed at South Hair Salon in Lymington Road on March 1 with intent to steal.

The following day he was accused of entering Napoleons at the corner of Lymington Road and Stanley Road.

It was reported in this incident that he stole the float and cash profit from inside a fruit machine.

Dewhurst, whose address was given as Raleigh Close, New Milton, pleaded guilty to two counts of burglary at a Poole Magistrates’ Court hearing on July 6.

The defendant was committed to prison for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months. This order included an eight-week overnight curfew and requirement to take part in up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity.

He was ordered to pay £500 compensation to Napoleons.
