POLICE investigating an attempt to steal an ATM from outside a Co-op in Poole have released two boys under investigation.

As reported, police were called to the Ringwood Road store at 12.41am on Monday where an ATM appeared to have been removed from the wall.

Officers and forensics attended the scene, and a police cordon remained in place until shortly before 11am.

Two boys aged 15 and 16 were arrested on suspicion of burglary, theft and criminal damage, but have now been released under investigation.

A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: "We were called at 12.41am on Monday 4 July 2022 to reports of alarms sounding at the Co-op store on Ringwood Road in Poole. It is alleged that an attempt had been made to steal from the ATM.

"A further call was received from Skate Fish and Chip Shop, also on Ringwood Road, reporting that a window had been smashed, entry gained and a charity box stolen.

"Officers attended and discovered that several cars had been damaged between the two locations.

"Officers from the local neighbourhood policing team have been made aware and will be carrying out patrols in the area and can be approached with any community concerns."
