TRAVELLERS have now left after setting up an encampment consisting of around 15 vehicles at Hengistbury Head.
The unauthorised encampment was reported around the Solent Meads Golf Centre this afternoon (July 1) by BCP Council.
A spokesperson said: “Our staff are visiting site to carry out the statutory welfare and educational needs assessment, along with any necessary risk assessments in order to determine the level of support to be given to the group and we are liaising with Dorset Police.
“We will be visiting, liaising with and monitoring the site going forward.”
The vehicles have since left.
Another separate six-unit encampment reported in the Turlin Moor Pavilion car park earlier today is understood to have moved on shortly after midday.
