A NEW pop-up restaurant will be hitting Bournemouth’s beachfront soon - but just for one month.

The Bayside Restaurant will be opening up just weeks after another beach bar along the seafront closed blaming BCP Council's rules.

The new venue at Toft Zig Zag will have a timber frame structure, indoor and outdoor seating, and private beach access.

The month-long dining experience is able to seat up to 180 people inside at any one time, with an additional 80 people outside on a wooden decking area.

Headed up by chef Gideon Hitchin, Bayside Restaurant will offer meals including fish and chips, light bites like salads or crab sandwiches and local lobster or Portland pearl oysters.

Bournemouth Echo:

The restaurant uses local ingredients, with meat from Neals and Sons Butchers in Bournemouth, fish from Kingfisher Brixham and a selection of wines from Templar Wines.

Bayside Restaurant will be erected at the bottom of the Toft Zig Zag walkway.

Visitors will also be able to arrive at Bayside Restaurant via the land train, which runs between the Bournemouth and Boscombe piers.

Bournemouth Echo:

A spokesperson from Bayside Restaurant said: “Bookings are now being taken for the one-time pop-up.

"The fact that it is only on the beach for the month of August only adds to the speciality of it all, and will add to the cosmopolitan atmosphere of Bournemouth’s beach front during the summer.”

Last month, the people behind the Beach Hut Bar and Grill on West Cliff sands claimed the business was no longer viable due to 'changing rules'.

Those behind the bar say they were aware of licensing restrictions such as customers needing to have a meal when they first opened but a number of other rules were implemented by the council.

A spokesperson for BCP Council said: “It is unfortunate the operators of the Beach Hut Bar & Grill have made the decision to cease trading.

"We were working with the operator to encourage them to remain on site, however we wish them all the best in wherever they should choose to do business in the future."

Bayside Restaurant will be open from August 1 to August 30.
