A VAN suspected to have been involved in fly-tipping in Dorset has been seized by police.

The vehicle, which was seized in Poole, is currently under investigation and is suspected to have been involved in environmental crimes within Dorset.

A spokesperson from Dorset Council Waste Services said: “At 12.02pm on Wednesday June 29, Dorset Council's Waste Enforcement Team - assisted by Dorset Police Rural Crime Team and the BCP Council Highways team - seized a VW Crafter (including personal effects and waste, including asbestos), registration CY59 MWD, from Lake Road in Poole.

“This vehicle is subject to a live investigation and is suspected to have been involved in environmental crimes within Dorset.

“It has now been seized pending that investigation by Enforcement Officers of the Dorset Council Waste Enforcement Team.

“It was seized under section 5 Control of Pollution (Amendment) Act 1989 (transporting controlled waste without being registered) and sections 33/34/34B of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 (breach of duty of care and illegal depositing of waste.)”

A spokesperson from Dorset Police Rural Crime Team said: “Today we assisted in the seizure of this vehicle which is suspected to have been used for flytipping.”
