A HELICOPTER was scrambled to a tourist hotspot in Dorset following an injury to a woman.
Two coastguard crews and a helicopter were called to the Lulworth area yesterday afternoon (Wednesday, June 29) as a woman injured her lower leg following a fall on the coastal path near Middle Bottom.
Luckily, the coastguard helicopter was being used for training session nearby.
A spokesman from Wyke Coastguard said: "Yesterday, we joined Lulworth Coastguard Rescue Team for a second consecutive day.
"Both teams were tasked just before 3pm to a female with a lower leg injury sustained after a slip on the coastal path close to Middle Bottom.
"First team members on scene stabilised the injury and awaited the arrival of more emergency services for what looked like a long stretcher carry.
"The coastguard helicopter, training nearby, offered assistance which was gratefully accepted.
"The casualty was packaged and stretchered a much shorter distance to the awaiting aircraft.
"The casualty was then flown to Durdle Door car park and onward journey to A&E Dorchester."
