I LOVE the beach and seafront area.
I think my dad taught me to swim in the sea almost before I could walk – we’re so lucky in Bournemouth and Poole.
Recently the trend seems to be for local business operating from the promenade to ‘take over’ the area of the beach directly in front of them – presumably at a cost to them in terms of increased rent to BCP.
Who can blame them I suppose, but this does reminds me of resorts in Spain and other holiday destinations where the public are often banned from entering these VIP areas, which are often fenced off with the beach being out of bounds to the public.
I do hope this doesn’t happen to our seafront, but I do understand that times are difficult and commercialism is ever more necessary to survive.
