POLICE are investigating after scrap metal was stolen from an outbuilding in North Dorset.

Two men entered a property in the East Orchard area sometime between 11am and 12.30pm on Wednesday, June 22, before the theft took place.

The men are believed to have loaded the metal into a white van, possibly with a ‘55’ plate, and driven off toward Shaftesbury.

One of the men is described as white, six feet tall and around 60 years old. He was wearing a checked shirt and walked with a stick.

The other man is described as white, five feet nine inches tall and around 40 years old. He was wearing a dark green T-shirt.

Police Constable Neil Hawkes, of North Dorset police, said: “We are carrying out a number of enquiries into this burglary and I would ask anyone with information that might assist our investigation to please come forward.

“I am particularly keen to hear from anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity involving a white van in the area around the time of the offence, or who has seen two men matching the descriptions given in the vicinity.”
