A DAY of celebration and a month-long art exhibition championing all things Poole is set to keep the Jubilee spirit going over the coming weeks.
The Poole Britannia! Exhibition at Lighthouse will display a glorious culmination of new legacy artworks created by six Poole schools with established artists.
Visitors can discover when the Queen visited Poole and can share their memories and photographs to be included in the exhibition too.
Alongside the exhibition, a celebration day will take place on Saturday, June 25, for families and individuals of all ages to enjoy interactive and creative arts activities offered for free.
At the celebration, visitors can also participate in a ‘Mass’d Sing’ in Lighthouse’s Sherling Studio with vocal coach Ali Sharpe to learn, record, and perform her Jubilee song commissioned by The Power House as part of a repertoire of celebratory songs.
Installations for the exhibition, meanwhile, include seven mosaic plaques created by 204 pupils and staff from the Federation of Hamworthy Primary Schools inspired by 29 pupils’ shortlisted designs. Each mosaic celebrates a decade of the Queen’s reign.
Headteacher Susannah Hill said: “At the end of our school project, the children are very excited that a cross section of their work will be displayed for a month at Lighthouse from the end of June as this really does validate their beautiful work.”
The exhibition continues through to July 23. Visit lighthousepoole.co.uk/whats-on/2022/jubilee-exhibition/ for more information.
