A WOMAN waiting for a bus was approached from behind by a man and then punched in the face.

Police investigating the assault in Bournemouth have issued images of a man they would like to speak to.

At around 6.10am on Saturday, May 28, a woman was waiting at a bus stop in Beechey Road, at the junction with Lansdowne Road, when a man approached her from behind and punched her in the face.

The man did not say anything to the victim and ran off into Beechey Road.

The victim, a local woman aged in her 30s, sustained bruising and swelling.

Police Community Support Investigator Mike Cannings, of Bournemouth police, said: “As part of my investigation, I have obtained CCTV images of a man I would like to speak to and would urge anyone who recognises him to please get in touch.

“Unprovoked violence of this nature will not be tolerated and we will continue to support the victim as our enquiries continue.”
