A RARE 1920s French motorcycle is set to add some va-va-voom to a specialist vintage auction this week.

Going under the gavel on June 29 is a pristinely kept 1929 San-Sou-Pap motorcycle which Dorset auctioneers Charterhouse believe will fetch between £15,000-17,000.

Charterhouse founder Richard Bromell said: “We have been asked to auction a vast variety of classic and vintage motorbikes in the auction.

“There are British, American, German, Italian and Japanese bikes but this chic French San-Sou-Pap ticks all the boxes for me.”

San-Sou-Pap motorcycles were made in France from 1923 to 1936. Originally the company made only two strokes and San-Sou-Pap means without valves. The unique bike is fitted with a Swiss made 500cc MAG four stroke engine.

Having been purchased by its latest owner in 2012, the San-Sou-Pap underwent a fastidious nut and bolt restoration over the following two years but has not been ridden since restoration was finished.

The Charterhouse specialist motorcycle auction will be held at the Haynes International Motor Museum on Wednesday June 29.
