A DEVELOPER has tabled plans to allow two neighbouring Bournemouth hotels to offer extended accommodation stays.
Terradace Property Services Ltd wants permission from BCP Council to be able to run Shirley Hotel and Newbury Hotel in St Michael’s Road as apart-hotels.
The certificate of lawful use applications state that apartments would not be occupied by the same person or persons for more than 90 days in any calendar year.
Both proposals involve internal alterations with no external changes.
A supporting statement by Chapman Lily Planning on behalf of the applicant said: “The background to the application is that the applicant is considering diversifying the business by providing a more varied offer of accommodation.
“The applicant, through their existing business, has received many enquiries about the provision of more self-contained accommodation, suited towards guest wishing to partake in short-stay vacations in Bournemouth.
“However, the applicant is currently unable to provide such accommodation with the existing internal configuration.”
The works would provide a mix of holiday accommodation in the form of six one-bed and one two bed units for each hotel, respectively.
The communal areas would be retained, and guests would still be greeted on arrival.
BCP Council planning officers are currently assessing both applications.
