AN ICONIC Shakespeare tragedy will be performed live in Boscombe next month – on top of a multi-storey car park.
As part of a nationwide tour, Shakespeare’s Globe is bringing its Julius Caesar production to the top floor of Boscombe’s Sovereign Centre car park for three outdoor performances in July.
In collaboration with Bournemouth’s emerging arts company BEAF, the renowned touring ensemble will take to the multi-storey’s roof to tell the classic but brutal tale of ambition, incursion and revolution to life.
Residents may want to bring a chair and blanket for the performances taking place on Saturday July 2 and Sunday 3 at 7.30pm each evening. There will also be a matinee performance at 2.30pm on the Sunday.
To keep performances as accessible and affordable as possible, prices are set at a ‘pay what you can’ level of either £7.50, £12.50 or £20 from BEAF’s EventBrite page. Lifts and accessible toilets will also be nearby.
BEAF director Nell Leyshon said: “It’s absolutely thrilling that Shakespeare’s Globe is coming to our much-loved Boscombe community, giving us all an opportunity to see world-class theatre. The Globe is known throughout the world, but this summer it will be in our own car park. Don’t miss it.”
