A TEENAGER who caused thousands of pounds of damage to cars and committed an affray in Bournemouth has avoided immediate custody.

Oliver Adam Dyer, 18, was alleged to have damaged three vehicles in Capstone Road on July 14, 2021.

On the same day he was also accused of having an offensive weapon, namely a set of keys on a key-ring, and committing affray in Charminster Road.

Dyer, whose address was given as Markham Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to three counts of criminal damage, one count of carrying an offensive weapon and one count of affray.

He appeared for sentencing at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, May 31.

Court papers stated one of the offences involved causing £2,556 of damage to a Tesla Model S, while another saw him cause £1,005.79 worth of damage to a Kia Rio.

The defendant was committed to detention for a total of six months, suspended for 12 months.

This included requirements to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and taking part in up to 20 days of rehabilitation activity. He was also ordered to pay a £128 surcharge.
