BROWNSEA Island is welcoming visitors for an early morning bird walk and breakfast or Supper and Safari.

A chance to step ‘behind the scenes’ with early morning bird walks and Supper and Safari events to be held in partnership with Dorset Wildlife Trust.

The wildlife watching events are aimed at getting people closer to the island’s wildlife.

There will be a chance to spot iconic red squirrels, as well as water vole, Dartford warbler, nightjar, glow worms, bats and the impressive tern colony.

The Early Morning Bird Walks on Saturday, June 18 and Saturday, October 15, offer a rare opportunity to arrive on the island to witness nature’s early morning orchestra.

Hopping off the early boat from Sandbanks, a Dorset Wildlife Trust ranger will lead visitors to one of the bird hides overlooking the lagoon, as well as around the wetlands and woodlands that surround it.

Supper and Safari evenings, every Thursday evening in June, invite visitors to explore an island that comes alive once the day visitors have gone home.

Visitors can enjoy a delicious supper in the harbour fronted Villano Café before embarking on a night-time guided expedition across the island in search of the more curious nocturnal wildlife.

Tickets must be booked in advance at nationaltrust.org.uk/brownsea-island/whats-on
