A DISABLED woman is raising money for her own life-changing frame by running 10 miles with her rented frame to show how much a race runner could improve her life.

Sophie Buckley was born with cerebral palsy. As an adult in her early 30s, her mobility is declining and she would like to fundraise for a frame runner. This device will not only help her remain mobile for as long as possible but it also will help her to experience running for the first time in her life.

Sophie said: "Frame running is new to me and holds me in an upright position so I can propel the frame with my legs. My cerebral palsy has always affected my ability to balance however my physical strength is not as affected which means running would be impossible for me without the frame.

"I have a frame on rental until July and in June I want to complete 10 miles for the month to show that I benefit from a frame runner and document my journey.

"Cerebral Palsy but that has never stopped me from achieving my dreams or aspirations, I am just about to complete my MA in youth sport. I am in my early 30s and I am a child care worker for a local after school club, I also help run the local Boccia club and I love swimming. Keeping fit is not just something that helps my life but also I enjoy.

"On Wednesday 24 August I am going to hold a fundraiser at St Nicholas Church. I want to try and make the effort to fundraise myself before I approach charities because an element of the frame would be used for personal use and I feel that I should take some responsibility for fundraising.

"Having said this a frame is £1,800 which is way more expensive than a piece of exercise equipment on the general market."
