THE mother of a man who went missing after he fell overboard on a boat in Poole Harbour has set up a memorial fundraising page.

Emergency services and volunteers carried out extensive searches for David Haw in the days after the incident in the early hours on bank holiday Monday, May 2.

Police received a report 24-year-old Mr Haw, who is from Sussex, had fallen off a RIB.

His mother Gill Haw has launched an online fundraiser for RNLI.

On the JustGiving page she wrote: “David was part of the sailing community, he spent many hours on the water. He tragically died at sea.

“This donation will help provide much needed funds for the RNLI continue to their work in saving lives at sea.”

A spokesman for the RNLI said: “Our thoughts are with David’s family at this difficult time, and we are extremely grateful to Gill for her decision to raise funds for the RNLI.

“Every donation we receive enables us to continue our search and rescue work.

“We are conscious that many of our supporters donate to and fundraise for us because of their personal involvement in an incident where the RNLI has responded and we are so appreciative of their kindness.”

As reported, a 19-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter.

A Dorset Police spokesperson said Mr Haw remains missing and enquiries are ongoing.

The arrested man remains released under investigation, police said.
