A DORSET campsite has been named among the best in the south west as the region takes the top spot for camping holidays in the UK.

Booking platform Pitchup.com created the south west's top campsite list which was based on customer reviews, with more than two million British holidaymakers booking a stay through the platform in the last year.

Portesham Dairy Farm Campsite just outside of Weymouth has been named the second best campsite in the south west according to reviews.

    £25 per night, four people.
  2. Hyde Camping, Bere Regis - 9.9/10
Hyde Camping is a spacious Dorset site in a 25-acre hay and wildflower meadow that’s been unsprayed for more than 20 years.

  3. Tin Barn, East Chelborough - 9.9/10
Tin Barn is set in a nine-acre grazing field close to public rights of wa.

    £20 per night, four people.
  4. Pilsdon View Camping, Bridport - 9.9/10

Kids can roam fairly freely around this site, playing with the garden toys and tyre swing or setting up their own games; don’t worry about them getting mucky, as there are gas-powered showers to take care of clean-up time.
Toilets, a fresh water supply and a washing-up area are also in place close to the pitches field.
£18 per night, two people.
