I WRITE with regard to yet another cycling letter by Susan Stockwell, May 6.
She would like to know what plans the various parties have for reducing congestion and air pollution.
I can give her an answer as to what I, as a voter, will look for when choosing who to vote for come our next local elections.
Secondly, whom would I personally vote for? Someone who parks these active travel schemes aside in favour of what is much more important like the economy and cost of living.
Cycling is mostly a leisure pursuit, it is a minority who use it as their main form of transport.
Active travel is way down on my list of local importance, there are far more important things that need concentrating on locally.
Ms Stockwell raises several other subjects in her letter, but again, all are very low down on the priorities of what I would look for from anyone I choose to vote for.
All parties need to address the fact that many voters are not interested in these active travel schemes and would prefer council efforts to be used elsewhere, and I think the ones that would commit to removing these LTNs (low traffic neighbourhoods) and cycle lanes would be vote winners.
