A motorcyclist involved in a crash near Wareham suffered serious injuries, police have said.

As reported, the A352 west of Wareham was closed late on Friday afternoon due to a collision at Worgret Hill.

Dorset Police were contacted about the incident at the weekend and have now released a statement.

A spokesman said: "Dorset Police received a report at 5.16pm on Friday 6 May 2022 of a collision involving a car and a motorcycle on the A352 Wareham Road near Wareham.

"Officers attended, along with the ambulance service, and the motorcyclist – a man aged in his 40s from Wool – was taken to hospital with injuries that were believed to be serious but not life-threatening.

"Road closures were put in place as emergency services responded to the incident and officers left the scene at around 9pm.

"We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while the road closures were in place."

A man who came across the scene said an off-duty paramedic who was in the queue of traffic held up by the crash got out and gave the casualty initial treatment before the arrival of emergency services.

They thought the injured person may have been airlifted to hospital.

The man said: "I hope he isn't too badly injured and makes a good speedy recovery."
