DORSET police have appealed for information following a dog bite incident in Christchurch last month.

Christchurch Police have appealed for witnesses in response to a dog bite incident near the Cliffhanger Café which saw a man sustain injuries to his arm.

At around 12.10pm on Saturday April 16, the victim, a man in his 50s, was walking with his wife and his son’s dog when a woman approached with a small terrier.

The terrier began to attack their dog, and on trying to intervene, the victim sustained puncture wounds to his arm.

It was reported that the owner of the terrier left the scene without giving her details.

She is described as white with shoulder-length brown hair and was wearing a white jumper with grey patterns, a light-coloured sun hat and white trousers as well as black trainers with white soles. Her dog was a small brown or sandy coloured terrier type dog.

In a Facebook post by Christchurch Police, Police Constable Jennie Sykes-Martin said: “We are carrying out enquiries into this incident and are keen to identify the owner of the dog involved so we can take her account.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed what happened or who has any information relating to her identity to please come forward. I would also ask the woman involved to do the right thing and come forward to assist our investigation.”
