A MAN has been found guilty of assaulting another man and stealing his phone at a Poole pub.

Peter Colin Frederick Booth, 46, was accused of assaulting the man by beating him at the Jolly Sailor at Poole Quay on August 22, 2020.

Booth, of Coles Avenue, Poole, was also charged with stealing the victim’s Samsung Galaxy A70, which was valued at £340.

The defendant pleaded not guilty to both charges and stood trial at Poole Magistrates’ Court in March.

He was found guilty of the two offences and sentenced at the same court on Friday, April 29.

Magistrates issued a 12-month community, with requirements to take part in 20 rehabilitation activity days and carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Booth was ordered to pay £340 compensation to the victim, as well as a £95 surcharge and £620 costs.
