A RESIDENT has hit out after nearly fours years worth of flytipping on a lane next to the A35 has 'gone uncollected'.

Jenny Smith who lives on Organford Lane says the flytipping near her house, which includes fridges, sofas, tyres and other white goods, has not been cleared for years.

Ms Smith said: “For over three years I have been reporting the disgraceful flytipping near the A35 and after months of investigation the council verified that their Highways Department own the land where this tipping takes place.

“I have been trying to get this area cleared for a good four years now and since August when I first reported this to our MP Mr Tomlinson, requesting his help, nothing has happened.

“I must've sent at least a dozen emails to the council also, but they keep saying they have no staff.

“The flytipping gets worse and worse because as you probably appreciate, when people start doing it other people add to it because they know they can get away with it. It is nothing but a disgrace.

“I appreciate you're not going to stop it completely but I just think it's appalling that it's now nearly four years and it is all still there.”

Jenny says there have been fridges, freezers, sofas, televisions, washing machines and around 40 tyres dumped there over the past four years.

She said: “We’re paying our council tax, what for, I ask? Refuse collection and street cleaning is part and parcel of that.

“How long does it take to organise a few men, and a lorry to do this. The council could come down and take just a few stacks every week.”

A Dorset Council spokesperson said: ““Dorset Council is aware of the issues with fly-tipping at this location.

"While we periodically clear-up what we can easily get to, it is a very overgrown area and some items have been thrown over a locked metal gate so they are out of the reach of our clean-up crew.

"Officers from various teams are currently discussing how to access the rubbish so Waste Services employees can fully clear it, and Waste Enforcement officers will attend the scene this week to investigate.”
