A COMPLAINT over security officers at tips not displaying their licence has led to council officers taking the matter up with its contractor.

BCP Council has paid for SIA-licenced staff at recycling centres for some time.

These security workers are required to display their licence when on duty, however, a resident has reported repeated instances in which this has not been the case.

The local authority told the Daily Echo it had taken the concerns up with the contractor to resolve the problem.

A BCP Council spokesperson said: “The Council contracts SIA-licenced security staff at our recycling centres to control public access to the site and ensure site policies are followed. These officers are trained to manage challenging and confrontational situations, which do occur at recycling centres.

“SIA security officers are required to display their SIA licence when on duty. The contractor regularly spot checks staff and non-compliance results in disciplinary action. BCP is aware of the complaint, has followed up with the contractor and responded to the individual.”
