The A338 at Cooper Dean is now open after police closed the road this morning as they dealt with a concern for welfare incident.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said around 6.09am that the road was closed southbound near Cooper Dean roundabout as officers dealt with the incident.
Motorists were asked to avoid the area.
Around 30 minutes later, they said: "Earlier road closures on the A338 southbound near Cooper Dean roundabout have now been lifted.
"We would like to thank members of the public for their patience and understanding while they were in place."
