A MAN has been spared an immediate prison term over the burglary of a Bournemouth convenience store.

Terry Lewis, 39, was alleged to have entered McColl's in Ringwood Road with intent to steal on February 6.

Lewis, whose address was given as Knowlton Road, Poole, pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary at a Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 27.

He also admitted breaching a community order made at the same court in December last year.

Deputy District Judge Clare Boichot committed the defendant to prison for 16 weeks, suspended for 12 months.

The defendant was ordered to take part in up to 30 days of rehabilitation activity requirement.

Lewis was ordered to pay £100 compensation to McColl's.
