A MAN has avoided going behind bars for multiple driving offences related to two cases of aggravated vehicle taking.

Joshua James Winter, 20 and of Knowlton Road, Poole, was sentenced at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, April 13, in relation to incidents which took place in February and March.

The court heard Winter took a Hyundai Getz on February 25 without the consent of the owner and before it was recovered damage under £5,000 had been caused.

In relation to this incident in Bournemouth, the defendant pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, driving while disqualified and using a motor vehicle without insurance.

On March 13, he was at the wheel of another vehicle in Poole without the consent of the owner and damage was caused to it.

Winter pleaded guilty to using a motor vehicle without insurance, aggravated vehicle taking, failing to stop the vehicle when required by a constable in uniform, driving while disqualified and drink driving.

The bench committed the defendant to prison for a total of 27 weeks, suspended for 18 months. This included a requirement to take part in up to 25 days of rehabilitation activity requirement and carry out 100 hours of unpaid work.

Winter was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence for 24 months.
