Is Christmas coming?

On one of the hottest weekends of the year so far, residents in one town were left confused this Easter to see Christmas tree lights switched on.

While most people were tucking into their roasts and stuffing their faces with chocolate, Christchurch seemed to have got a bit confused about which holiday they should be celebrating.

A giant Christmas tree on a roundabout in the town has been lit up again recently, with locals bewildered and questioning how much electricity it would be costing.

Bizarrely, the lights haven't been left on since Christmas, but residents have noticed the lights had been switched back on in the last week or two.

The strings of lights which cover the large tree have been on throughout the daytime as well as at night.

Local Richard Jenson said: "I went past drunk in a taxi home, took a second for brain to confirm it's not Christmas."

Geraldine Hughes said: "It's mad isn't it? They are on all the time, glowing through the day and night."

Donna Llewellyn said: "I hate to think how much electric it's costing."
