POLICE were called to a car which took an “unexpected swim” near Winterborne Abbas in a busy bank holiday shift.

Officers from the Dorset Traffic Cops attended the crash where the occupants sustained slight injuries.

A spokesperson said: “The first involved the Citroen and its unexpected swim near Winterborne Abbas.

“Thankfully the occupants suffered slight injuries in this collision and the vehicle was recovered with our investigation remaining ongoing.

“The second concerned several motorists travelling in both directions on the A35 bypass of Puddletown.

“We found numerous drivers travelling well in excess of the 70mph national speed limit and coming close to the boundary of a court appearance.

“None of these drivers had anything reasonable to excuse their behaviour but all were reasonable people accepting of their fate, three points and £100 fines each.”
