A NEW Mexican restaurant will open its doors in Bournemouth town centre next month.

Restaurant brand Tortilla is due to open its first Dorset site on May 20.

The new branch of the burrito chain is opening at the former Oasis clothing store in Old Christchurch Road.

It will create between 25 and 30 jobs and will operate across two floors serving 40 covers.

All sites of Tortilla are open for dine in, takeaway and delivery.

The new Bournemouth branch will be open between 11am and 9pm most days.

Tortilla serves burritos, tacos, ‘naked burritos’, nachos, quesadillas and salads.

Earlier this month, the company hailed “strong” momentum after revealing that sales jumped by more than three-quarters last year following the relaxation of pandemic restrictions.

The company said revenues increased by 79.5 per cent to £48.1 million for the year to January 2, compared with the previous year.

Like-for-like sales were 23.8 per cent of pre-pandemic levels as the company reported increased demand for Mexican food.

The group, which currently has 68 sites, said it is still continuing to roll out more locations and expects 16 more openings by the end of the year.

It told investors it believes it has the potential to grow to around 200 sites.
