THREE separate vehicles were clocked and stopped within a half hour period travelling at speeds of more than 60mph in a 40mph road.
A Dorset Police No Excuse team carried out speed checks along the Ringwood Road towards Bear Cross on the evening of Monday, April 11, and said “you wouldn’t believe” the speed of some drivers passing through a 40mph zone.
Within the space of half an hour, officers dished out penalties to three drivers – one of whom was “in a hurry to get home”.
First, a Vauxhall Insignia was detected travelling at 65mph. Had the driver been caught speeding at 66mph, they would have faced court for the offence. A fixed penalty was issued.
Shortly after, a Ford Fiesta being driven by a new driver was stopped after reaching 63mph. The driver was docked three points and officers say this means the driver is “halfway to their licence being revoked and potentially losing their job”.
Lastly, another Vauxhall Insignia was clocked at 60mph. The reasoning apparently given to officers was that they were “in a hurry to get home from work”.
Another fixed penalty was issued.
