A CAR dealership has launched a second attempt to get the green light to expand its showroom and workshop operation for an additional franchise.

Horizon Motor Company has made changes to its plans for the site in Ringwood Road, which is currently home to Horizon Honda Poole.

The applicant saw an application refused by BCP Council planning department in April last year.

After going back to the drawing board, the firm has taken on board the points raised by council officers and submitted a fresh application.

A design and access statement for the additional car showroom has been compiled by Lionel Gregory Architects Limited.

It says: “The previous proposals for the showroom had a height of eight metres adjacent to the boundary with 391 Ringwood Road, this has now been reduced to 3.5 metres.

“Since the previous application was made the adjacent site has now received an approval to build a block of flats in the garden.

“With regards to 292 Herbert Avenue, the initial concerns of the planning officer are unfounded as current building practice of constructing airtight buildings will effectively screen any noise emanating from the building.

“However, to further address the concerns the width of the workshop has been reduced by 1m to move it further away from the boundary.”

Horizon Motor Company has occupied the site since the 1970s, celebrating their 50th year in Ringwood Road 12 months ago.

The planning application is currently being assessed by BCP Council planners. Residents have until April 29 to submit comments in the consultation period.
