A DRIVER who was clocked by a speed camera going 61mph in a 40mph zone on a main road in Bournemouth town centre has been fined by the courts.
Joseph Peter Roberts, aged 43, was alleged to have committed the speeding offence when he was at the wheel of a Honda car on the A338 Wessex Way, Dean Park, on May 2 last year.
Roberts’ guilty plea through the single justice procedure was recorded by Weymouth Magistrates’ Court in October, however, the case was adjourned for a full hearing.
The defendant, whose address was given as Marsh Way, Swanage, was not present at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on April 5 when he was sentenced.
The bench issued a £133 fine as well as an order to pay a £34 surcharge and £110 costs.
Roberts’s driving record was endorsed with five points.
