A SPECIAL memorial event to Bournemouth DJ Tom Roberts is set to take place in the town centre tonight.
Bomo Bunker in Holdenhurst Road will host the event, which features a packed line-up of artists.
Organisers have said all profits will be going to the 21-year-old’s family to help with funeral costs.
As reported, Tom, a talented drum and bass DJ, suffered fatal injuries outside Subway in Old Christchurch Road in the early hours on Saturday, March 12.
Bournemouth-based promotor Xavier Swartz, who heads up Excessive Events, has organised the Bomo Bunker night.
He got to know Tom over the past four years and regularly included him on his events.
Xavier told the Daily Echo: “Personally for me, with the connections I have got and the friendship I had with Tom – we always used to DJ together, that is what us brought us together – this was the least I could do to use the reach the connections I have got to do a good thing for his family and a send off for him.”
Tom, who had aspirations to join the Royal Marines, had established a reputation as one of the best up and coming DJs in the area.
“He was really good,” said Xavier. “I am quite picky with who I get on my line-ups but he was absolutely smashing it.
“He was a very cheeky boy. He was so nice. Every time you saw him he would give you a compliment like your hair is looking fresh, but he was just genuinely so bubbly and laughing all the time.
“We would always have a good time together.”
The memorial event will be headlined by a very special guest, who has not been named, as well as artists Outlaw, Amplify, Nick The Lot and Jayline.
“All the money raised from the event will go to Tom’s family. Hopefully a lot of people come along and show their support,” said Xavier.
Entry is £10 on the door with no advanced online sales, with the event running from 10pm to 4am.
A fundraising page has been set up by one of Tom’s childhood friends. It has now raised more than £4,000 and can be viewed online at gofundme.com/f/help-raise-funeral-funds-for-tom-roberts
