A BUSY shift for Bournemouth police involved shouts for help, recovering a sign from a road and a shoplifting.

Officers are investigating a number of incidents which arose from the evening shift on Thursday.

Firstly, police attended a concern for welfare of an elderly female who had been shouting out the window for help.

A nurse heard her and called the police. Officers attended, found the female was okay and got in contact with neighbours and family to support her.

A metal road sign was then recovered in the road and removed to prevent damage to other vehicles.

Officers were then called to a male who had visited a shop and walked out with a number of items. He threatened staff with what was believed to be a knife.

A force spokesperson said investigations were ongoing but thanks to an eagle-eyed member of the public, they had several lines of enquiry.

Finally, a male at another shop had entered with others earlier in the day and left the store without paying for items.

The spokesperson said he decided to return to the store later that day and was detained by staff. The male has had his details taken and investigations were still ongoing.
