A MOTORIST has been spared a a driving ban after being caught using a car without insurance in Bournemouth.

Silviu Victor Velicu, 32 and of Northcote Road, Bournemouth, pleaded guilty to a single charge of using a Honda car without insurance in Privet Road, Bournemouth, on May 22, 2021.

The defendant appeared in the dock at Weymouth Magistrates' Court and was sentenced by the bench on Wednesday, March 30.

He was fined £500 and ordered to pay a £50 surcharge and £110 costs.

His driving record was endorsed with six points, which made him at risk of a totting up disqualification.

However, the bench found there were sufficiant mitigating circumstances to decide not to impose the ban.

Court papers stated: "Exceptional hardship found as defendant and partner would not be able to keep their employment if disqualified today and this is exceptional taking their circumstances into account."
