A YOUNG man suffered a head injury and was knocked unconscious in an early hours attack in Bournemouth town centre.

Police have launched an investigation over two reported assaults on Sunday morning near the BH2 leisure complex.

The incidents occurred approximately between 4.15am and 4.45am on April 3, with the first outside shops in Exeter Road and the second outside Mulligans in the same road.

It was reported the victim – a man aged in his 20s from Hampshire – was assaulted twice by two men.

During the second assault, he was reportedly knocked unconscious and sustained a head injury. He was taken to hospital for treatment.

Following enquiries, a 20-year-old man from Woking and a 21-year-old man from Basingstoke were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent, affray and outraging public decency. They have been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

Detective Constable Jethro Marles, of Bournemouth CID, said: “An investigation is underway into this incident and I am appealing to anyone who witnessed what happened to please get in touch.

“I would also ask any motorists who may have been driving along Exeter Road and captured anything of relevance on dashcam footage to please come forward.”
