A GROUP of girls came together to pay tribute to The Wanted star Tom Parker, who recently lost his battle with terminal brain cancer.

Just weeks after seeing him perform with The Wanted at the BIC, Sydney Jones and Jenny Moreby returned to the venue with friends to mourn the loss of the 33-year-old.

The group played some of The Wanted’s songs, laid flowers and let off balloons in their “own goodbye” for Tom.

Sydney, 23, said: “We went round to the back of the BIC where we could oversee the sea and it was nice weather.

“All over the world different people are doing different things for Tom, we thought because they performed here it would be nice to do it here.

“The Wanted have been part of mine and my friends’ life for years now and Tom meant quite a bit and with what he was going through, he was just amazing.”

Sydney saw The Wanted in early March when they spotted Tom in the crowd. They were then amazed when the star was brought on stage for the performance of Glad You Came.

She continued: “I am just thankful I was able to go, if I am honest I did not expect Tom to be there. He was really struggling, you could see on stage he looked really frail but to be there enjoying it was amazing.

“The vigil was needed. We were all saying it was needed because it was our little goodbye to Tom.

“Obviously we are fans, we won’t be going to the funeral so that was our goodbye to Tom.”

Tom died on March 30 of complications from glioblastoma. Tributes have been paid all over the world to the popstar with band mate Max George saying he was “heartbroken beyond words”.
