A DRIVER has been charged in connection with an incident in February in which a “number of dangerous manoeuvres” were performed during a police pursuit.

As reported, a police appeal was launched after an alleged failure to stop incident in which the driver of a white Renault Megane was followed for seven minutes by police on the evening of Wednesday, February 23.

The reported pursuit occurred after an officer travelling in an unmarked police vehicle requested the driver of the vehicle to stop as it travelled along Ringwood Road from the Mountbatten Arms roundabout toward the Alderney roundabout.

It was aborted after the driver carried out “dangerous” manoeuvres.

Less than two months later, Dorset Police have arrested and charged someone in connection.

A Dorset Traffic Cops spokesperson said: “After some extensive work, we found who we believe to be the driver and arrested them for four offences. With some time in custody, the CPS authorised charges for all four offences as well as supporting the driver being remanded in custody for the following days court.

“The driver will now appear in Crown Court in May so we’ll keep you updated as to the outcome.”
