IF last month’s warm spell got you in the mood for summer you might be disappointed for what’s in store in April.

Bournemouth-based weather forecaster DorsetSun has given his outlook for this month, and he said generally it will be “fairly poor”.

Posting on Twitter on Thursday, DorsetSun said: “Generally it looks like April will be a fairly poor month with plenty of showery conditions and not a lot in the way of warm sunshine.

“High pressure anomalies across the North Atlantic will bring colder than average conditions during the first week of the month, and this will bring the threat of wintry showers at times.

“During week two we could see a standard zonal set up develop. This may bring spells of heavy rain and strong winds for a time.”

DorsetSun said April would get off to a “cold start” with a widespread wintry show risk.

He said it would become milder during the second week of the month, but would stay showery.

However, the end of the month is looking more promising with potential for some more settled conditions by the final week of April.

DorsetSun added: “Week three is likely to be showery at times, although we may still see a few decent days and perhaps some warm sunshine at times.

“There is a weak signal for high pressure to return at the end of the month but some caution is needed with this.”
