UNIVERSITY Hospitals Dorset’s annual twilight walk for women’s health is returning “brighter than ever” after last year’s virtual event.

The hospitals trust has invited the local community to attend the walk on Friday May 6 in their most sparkly outfits as they walk the sponsored 5km route through Harbourside Park, Poole, starting at the Baiter recreation ground.

Thousands of women are living with serious breast or gynaecological health concerns and rely on the care provided at UHD hospitals.

The trust has now once again asked Dorset to “walk with us” for every woman in the community.

As participants set off from 7pm they will be able to take in the sights of Poole’s famous harbour whilst making their way along the fully accessible route. This family-friendly event is suitable for all ages and abilities.

Since 2013, twilight walk participants have raised more than £150,000 for breast and gynaecological projects.

This year, it hoped to build on that success and continue to raise money for new state-of-the-art equipment.

The money could help fund new scanning and imaging technology to enable a swift diagnosis, and scalp cooling caps to support women undergoing breast and gynaecological cancer treatment.

Twilight walk for women’s health is sponsored by The Stock Shop who said: “We are thrilled to support University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity’s twilight walk for women’s health.

“We have been part of University Hospitals Dorset for nearly two years and as a business it is of great importance to us that we support the hospital and the local community.

“We are delighted to be part of an event that is so valued by the Dorset community and which raises vital funds for patients and staff at University Hospitals Dorset.”

Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £8 for children (under 5s go free) – adults will receive their very own twilight walk t-shirt.
