A WOMAN was attacked by a dog that had escaped its owners grip in the New Forest.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a female cyclist was attacked by a German Shepherd in Blackwater Ford.

It is reported that the victim was cycling past the Ford at around 1.30pm when she encountered a man and woman with their German Shepherd on Monday, March 21.

The cyclist allegedly slowed down to go past the couple before the dog escaped its owners grip and jumped at the victim. 

The dog then bit the woman’s leg causing several puncture wounds and causing her leg to bleed.

The dog was eventually pulled away from the woman by its owners.

A spokesperson for New Forest Heart Cops said: “We have conducted initial enquiries but are seeking to identify the couple involved in the incident.

“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see what happened? Do you remember seeing a German Shepherd dog acting in a dangerous manner? Perhaps you recognise the people in the image?

“Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to call 101, quoting crime reference 44220113891.”
