ELEVEN locations across Dorset appear within the highest bracket of Covid case rates on an interactive map on the government website.

A colour-coded map depicts areas where case rates are above 1,600 per 100,000 people in black.

Latest data for the seven days to March 20 shows a total of 11 locations across Dorset in the ‘black zone’.

Bournemouth Echo:

Dorchester West & Poundbury had the highest case rate across Dorset at 2,175.3.

It also had the highest number of cases at 275, following a rise of 107 new cases in the space of a week.

In the seven days to March 20, there were 5,179 cases recorded across the Dorset Council area giving a rate of 1,363.6 per 100,000 people.

This was after a jump of 1,613 new cases on the previous week.

Meanwhile, Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole had 4,395 infections giving a rate of 1,107.1, with 1,091 new cases recorded.

Here are the 11 ‘blackspot’ areas across Dorset for the week to March 20:

Dorchester West & Poundbury – 275 cases, rate 2,175.3. 107 new cases, up 64.7 per cent.

Underhill & The Grove – 119 cases, rate 1,951.1, up 128.8 per cent. 67 new cases.

Canford Heath East – 137 cases, rate 1,855.9, up 55.7 per cent, 49 new cases.

Southwell & Weston – 135 cases, rate 1,844.8, up 117.7 per cent, 73 new cases.

Owermoigne, Broadmayne & Winterbourne – 148 cases, rate 1,828.1, up 89.7 per cent, 70 new cases.

Dorchester East – 158 cases, rate 1,767.7, up 79.5 per cent, 70 new cases.

Wyke Regis – 97 cases, rate 1.767.2, up 54 per cent, 34 new cases.

Bearwood – 97 cases, rate 1,759.2, up 64.4 per cent, 38 new cases.

Yetminster, Bradford Abbas & Longburton – 136 cases, rate 1,723.0, up 60 per cent, 51 new cases.

Swanage – 167 cases, rate 1,721.3, up 24.6 per cent, 33 new cases.

Shaftesbury – 152 cases, rate 1,691.7, up 46.2 per cent, 48 new cases.
